Roles and Responsibilities:
• Compliance with SEBI Regulations: Liaising with stakeholders, including custodian, RTA, and treasury team, to ensure all key inputs regarding NAV calculations are shared with fund accountants as per defined timelines. Responsible for the timely submission of annual scheme financials and other disclosures such as half yearly financials, abridged financials, fortnightly and monthly portfolio, etc. This role will ensure that all key business numbers made public for marketing or collateral purposes are reviewed, submitted after quality checks, and error free.
• Supervise the computation of the NAV calculation of all schemes and ensure that the same complies with SEBI guidelines, internal valuation policy.
• Monitor submission of NAV of schemes with the regulatory bodies, and the same is shared with the relevant stakeholders for onward publication.
• Ensure compliance with tax provisions applicable to the mutual fund schemes, such as GST, TDS, Income tax, STT, etc. Ensure accurate and timely payment of statutory payments and submissions of returns as per applicable laws.
• Ensure scheme books are prepared and maintained as per the applicable accounting standards, and periodical review of the trial balance is performed to ensure compliance with SEBI guidelines of scheme financials. To oversee periodical audits such as internal audit, statutory audit, and SEBI inspection, and ensure that the audits are performed within the defined timelines without any material observations.
• Ensure adherence to Fund accounting processes documented as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and ensure periodical testing and review of the processes.
• Responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely submissions of various MIS to external service providers and internal teams.
• Review of periodical SLAs with the Fund accountant and suggest improvements as and when needed.
• Proactively assisting in the timely resolution of any delays or technical glitches in mutual fund operations that impact the calculation and publication of NAVs within the defined timelines.
• Ensure submission of various qualitative and quantitative inputs related to due diligence of MF business for asset management mandates or otherwise.
Managerial Responsibility
• Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of executives and finance professionals in Fund Accounting unit. Provide direction, set clear expectations, and ensure the team is working efficiently and effectively to support Investments function in achieving objectives of the fund.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strict compliance with mutual fund regulations, actively identify potential risks, and implement appropriate internal controls related to NAV and to safeguard the scheme’s financial health and integrity.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as Unit Administrative Operations, Custody and Investments function to achieve broader business goals and meet regulatory requirements around Fund Accounting.
• Training & Development: Train, mentor, and support team members in their professional development. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team, ensuring skills and knowledge are up-to-date and aligned with organizational needs.
